Preparedness Discussion Held for North-East Monsoon Disaster Situations in Navithanveli
A discussion on preparedness to face disaster situations during the North-East Monsoon rain period was held on October 16, 2025, at the Navithanveli Cultural Centre, chaired by the Navithanveli Divisional Secretary, Mrs. Rahulanayahi Sajindren.
The event was attended by the Assistant Divisional Secretary of the Navithanveli Divisional Secretariat, Mrs. S. Nirupah, and Samurdhi Head Quarters Manager, Mr. S. Sivam, along with Grama Niladhari Officers, Economic Development Officers, Samurdhi Development Officers, Village Development Officer, and Social Service Officer. Officers from government departments within the Navithanveli Divisional Secretariat division and the Kalmunai area also participated. These included: the Ampara District Disaster Management Centre, Pradeshiya Sabha (Local Council), Road Development Authority, Irrigation Department, Road Development Department, Police Station, Sri Lannka Navy, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), Veterinary Surgeon's Office, National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Lanka Sathosa, and the Zonal Education Office.
During the discussion, decisions were made regarding the preparation and implementation of precautionary plans for disasters that may occur during the specified period.
